Research Operations Team

The Research Operations team supports the College of Arts and Law's strategic research aims and provides support for active research and projects.

In her role as Head of Research Operations, Sheena leads a small team providing professional support for research across the College.  This includes internal research funding, study leave, risk assessment and mitigation, ethics, researcher development, research communications and research software engineering, open research and PGR funding.


Sophie O'Neill, Research Communications Manager

The Research Communications Manager works to enhance the research profile of the College and showcase the reach, impact and outputs of research activity to stakeholders internally and externally. They also support academics to build their public profile and develop brand awareness in relation to our key research strengths.


Mike AllawayMike Allaway, Senior Research Software Engineer

Mike develops software (such as websites and mobile apps) for research projects in the College and provides personalised coaching sessions for researchers to help them develop their own software. You can meet with Mike to discuss the feasibility of technical ideas for your research project and he can contribute to the technical aspects of your grant funding application.


Research Support Team 

The Research Support Team works with academic colleagues to develop and submit funding applications.

Paul provides high-level, strategic funding support to academics within the College and manages a team of two Research Facilitators and one Research Support Officer, who offer tailored support to particular Schools: 


Tania Cleaves

Dr Tania Cleaves (née Woloshyn), Research Facilitator (SHaC, PTR, BLS)

Tania is the Research Facilitator for the Schools of History & Cultures (SHaC), of Philosophy, Theology & Religion (PTR), and of Law (BLS). She provides pre-award support, offering advice on opportunities best-suited to academics' research plans and developing applications for a range of UK funders.  


 

CURRENTLY VACANT: Research Facilitator (EDACS, LCAHM)

This Research Facilitator supports external research funding for the Schools of English, Drama and Creative Studies (EDACS) and of Languages & Cultures, Art History and Music (LCAHM). They provide pre-award support, offering advice on opportunities best-suited to academics' research plans and developing applications for a range of UK funders.


Kirpal NobleKirpal Noble, Research Support Officer

Kirpal is the College's Research Support Officer. Working closely with Tania and Claire, Kirpal provides pre-award support, especially expertise on budgets in bid development, for all Schools in CAL. Kirpal is also the primary contact for Worktribe in our team.

Research Engagement and Impact Team 

The Research Engagement and Impact Team works to support colleagues developing impactful and engaged research.
