Research Operations Team

The Research Operations team supports the College of Arts and Law's strategic research aims and provides support for active research and projects.

In her role as Head of Research Operations, Sheena leads a small team providing professional support for research across the College.  This includes internal research funding, study leave, risk assessment and mitigation, ethics, researcher development, research communications and research software engineering, open research and PGR funding.


Anna Griffiths, PA to Director of Research & Research Administrator

Anna is Personal Assistant to the Director and Deputy Director of Research. Anna also provides events and finance administration support to colleges thoughout the College and the Research Hub. 


Sophie O'Neill, Research Communications Manager

The Research Communications Manager works to enhance the research profile of the College and showcase the reach, impact and outputs of research activity to stakeholders internally and externally. They also support academics to build their public profile and develop brand awareness in relation to our key research strengths.


Mike AllawayMike Allaway, Senior Research Software Engineer

Mike develops software (such as websites and mobile apps) for research projects in the College and provides personalised coaching sessions for researchers to help them develop their own software. You can meet with Mike to discuss the feasibility of technical ideas for your research project and he can contribute to the technical aspects of your grant funding application.


Research Support Team 

The Research Support Team works with academic colleagues to develop and submit funding applications.

With twenty years' experience engaging with the UK funding landscape - including roles within the AHRB, Wellcome Trust and University of Warwick - Liese provides high-level, strategic support to academics within the College. She manages a team of Research Facilitators and Research Support Administrators who offer tailored support to particular Schools. 


Tania Cleaves

Tania is the Research Facilitator for the Schools of History & Cultures (SHaC), of Philosophy, Theology & Religion (PTR), and of Law (BLS). She provides pre-award support, offering advice on opportunities best-suited to academics' research plans and developing applications for a range of UK funders.

Whilst Claire is on leave, we have the pleasure of welcoming Ella to our team to support the Schools of English, Drama and Creative Studies (EDACS) and of Languages & Cultures, Art History and Music (LCAHM). Ella provides pre-award support, offering advice on opportunities best suited to academics' research plans and developing applications for a range of UK funders.


Kirpal NobleKirpal Noble, Research Support Officer (SHaC, PTR, BLS)

Kirpal is the Research Support Officer for SHaC, PTR and BLS. Working closely with Tania she provides pre-award support and leads on post-award support in her Schools. She is also the primary contact for Worktribe and post-award troubleshooting for external grants in our team.


Emily Hill

Emily Hill, Research Support Administrator (EDACS, LCAHM)

Emily is the Research Support Administrator for EDACS and LCAHM. Working closely with Claire, and now Ella, she provides pre-award support, especially on budgeting, and is the first point of contact for post-award queries for external grants in her Schools.

The Research Impact & Development Team works to support colleagues developing impactful and engaged research.
