EISU day trips

All home and international students, and their friends and families, are welcome to come on the weekend day trips that EISU run during termtime.

Saturday 15 February: Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick Castle

In the morning we will go to Stratford-on-Avon where you have time to visit some of the properties associated with William Shakespeare including his birthplace and the church where he is buried; other attractions include the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, the Butterfly Farm and the Museum of Mechanical Art & Design. Admission fees in Stratford are not included in the cost of your ticket. In the afternoon we go to Warwick Castle which is possibly the finest castle in England. Both these world-famous tourist destinations are only 40 minutes from Birmingham making it easy to visit both in one day.

  • Ticket: £16. This includes coach and admission to Warwick Castle

Saturday 1 March: St Fagan’s Museum and Cardiff

On 1 March the Welsh celebrate St David's Day. St Fagan's is an open-air museum where you can learn about the culture, crafts and people of Wales. In the afternoon we will visit Cardiff. Europe's youngest Capital. Places to visit include Cardiff Castle, the Millennium Stadium, the National Museum and the attractions around the regenerated dock area at Cardiff Bay.

Sunday 16 March: Harry Potter Studio Tour

A visit to the film studios where the Harry Potter films were made. The tour includes many of the sets and  props and visual effects from the films.

  • Tickets: £37 for students; £30 for children. This includes coach travel and admission to Harry Potter World.  We have a very limited number of seat only tickets for children under 5 years old.

Saturday 22 March: Manchester

 We will give a map and an information sheet about the different places to visit.

Host scheme

Another way to see Britain and experience its culture is to arrange a short visit to a British family in another part of the UK via the Host Scheme.
