Mondelez International Student Challenge

The B-Enterprising team are running an exciting week long Student Challenge with global snack and food giant Mondelez International, owners of iconic brands such as Cadburys and Oreo. There is a £1,000 prize fund for the winning team and the challenge is free to enter.

Mondelez are running a Boot Camp in June 2020.

Working with Mondelez International

  • This opportunity is exclusively for University of Birmingham students and graduates and you will be working on real life challenges with Mondelez International.
  • There is a cash prize of £1,000 for the winning team, alongside other prizes.
  • Mondelez International are looking for talented University of Birmingham student teams to develop new ideas that use emerging technologies to improve the customer experience.
  • On the first day (Monday), you will visit Mondelez International HQ where the challenge will be revealed. You will also receive training from key Mondelez International staff and be allocated into teams to work on your ideas.
  • There will be a further session on day three (Wednesday), where you will receive further mentoring from key Mondelez staff.
  • You will present your idea to a panel of Mondelez staff on day five (Friday) when the winner will be announced, before a networking lunch to celebrate your week.
  • You will be expected to commit a further 12 hours during the week to work with your team on your idea - this can be agreed with your team.
  • There is no cost to take part - the cost of travel and catering of the core programme is kindly sponsored by Mondelez International. You will need to be able to attend the full programme (outlined in the schedule below) in order to be considered for this challenge.

Prizes

  • 1st team prize - £1,000 cash team prize
  • Additional prizes - There are a number of other prizes that will be confirmed at the start of the competition.

Mondelez brands include Oreo, Milka, Cadbury, Belvita and Tang.

Schedule: June 2020 (dates to be confirmed)

The Mondelez International Student Challenge was due to take place in late March but this has been postponed. A new date will be confirmed in June 2020 shortly. Here is a breakdown of the week:

Day 1 (09:15 to 16:00) - Visit to Mondelez HQ to visit key staff for introduction to challenge, training and team formation.

Day 3 (13:00 to 17:00) - Workshop with Mondelez International mentors at UoB campus

Day 5 (10:00 to 13:00) - Final pitch and networking day at UoB campus

Outside of the core agenda above - You will be expected to commit 12 hours towards team time during day 2 and day 4, which can be agreed with your team.

Who can apply to Mondelez International Student Challenge?

This programme is open to all undergraduates, postgraduates and graduates of University of Birmingham.

You do not require a business idea to attend, please just bring yourselves. Careers Network also runs a B Start-Up Programme designed for anyone wishing to turn an idea into a registered business or social enterprise.
