NatWest Climate Hackathon

NatWest Business Builder

Climate Hackers Unite! Join us to help fight climate change whilst also gaining essential business builder and careers experience vital for today's job market.

The race to find meaningful measures to fight climate change is a joint responsibility that unites us all. As students in education, you have the power to create solutions that not only alter perceptions and behaviour whilst studying, but that shape positive sustainability habits for life. When it comes to Climate Change, all bets are off and all ideas are welcome – your ideas especially!

On 7 and 8 July, you are invited to share your passion for a greener, sustainable future and your entrepreneurial spirit over a two-day Hackathon in partnership with NatWest’s Business Builder programme and all 5 universities in Birmingham. Over the two days, you’ll work in teams to find a creative solution for real-world issues on climate change, taking your idea from concept, through to a fully-fledged business proposition, which you’ll pitch to a panel of experts, for prizes and the opportunity to develop your solution as part of NatWest’s Climate Accelerator programme.

The B-Enterprising Team will be part of the event, and be running some of the session over the course of the Hackathon. We are looking for students who want to help fight climate change, and respresent the University of Birmingham whilst doing so.

Develop your sustainability and entrepreneurial skills by helping to make a difference - No experience or prior knowledge is required.

What is a Hackathon?

A Hackathon is where a group of people come together creatively and intensely to create solutions to a problem. In this case, we’re focussing on the climate crisis and what we can do about it.

Who can apply?

Any student from the University of Birmingham can apply. No prior knowledge is required, just a passion for making a difference. The event is open to all courses.

What are the Prizes?

The winning team will get a place on NatWest's Climate Accelerator Programme where they will be able to start bringing their idea to life. There will also be other prizes throughout the event to be announced at a later date.

How do I apply?

There is a short application form to fill in, as places are limited. If you have any questions, or need any help filling out the form, please email the B-Enterprising team: benterprising@contacts.bham.ac.uk
