There are a number of occasions during your job search, when you will need to create a persuasive cover letter to send to an employer.

This includes if you are seeking part-time work, internships or other experience alongside your PhD/ research degree.

This 30 minute presentation will show you how to showcase your skills, interest and enthusiasm.

It will be especially useful if you are applying for part-time work at the moment; it also includes advice that will be useful for when you are preparing cover letters for jobs after your PhD.

This event is for Postgraduate Researchers only.

Event objectives

By the end of the session you will:

  • Understand when to use a cover letter and identify sources of credible information for background research
  • Be able to structure a cover letter and create effective content
