Philosophy conferences, Universities of Leeds and Edinburgh
Description
Emily had a paper accepted at the Compassion and Cruelty conference at the University of Leeds, which involved her giving a presentation on her paper and making it accessible to a non-philosophy audience. She also attended a two day conference at the University of Edinburgh, where she was able to engage with fellow philosophy students - who told her how she should go about finding funding for my PhD and gave great advice on the process of becoming an academic. Opportunities such as giving papers at conferences are vital for Emily as she wishes to pursue a career in academia.
