How and when to apply for a bursary

The following details the key dates in the bursary application process.

Important bursary dates

  • Application deadline for online application and virtual video interview: 23:59 on Thursday 28 April 2022
  • Candidates informed of bursary application outcome: during week commencing 23 May 2022
  • Second deadline date for unallocated bursary funds*: 23:59 on Sunday 19 June 2022

*The second deadline date is for the allocation of any bursary funds which were unspent following the first deadline date in April. Please note that we cannot guarantee funds will be available for this second deadline until the original awards have been made.

Before beginning your application form, you may wish to discuss the details of your application and to confirm whether your work experience opportunity is eligible. Please contact the Internships team (identify in the status line the bursary you are applying for) and your enquiry will be directed to the appropriate member of the Work Experience Bursary team. The Internships team will then contact you to discuss your application.

Personal Skills Award (PSA)

Did you know that completing a work experience placement can gain you points on the Personal Skills Award (PSA)? Doing work experience AND securing a Work Experience Bursary will gain even more points.

You can complete the Personal Skills Award in two different ways: through participation in ‘extra-curricular activities’ (such as part-time work, voluntary experience, sport and so much more), or by completing three accredited skills modules that appear on your academic transcript.
