Accessible Educator

HEFi's Accessible Educator course launched last week. Enrol now and reflect on your current practice around Digital Accessibility and consider your attitudes and actions to help you become an Accessible Educator. Complete the course and commit to the Accessible Educator actions to earn a digital badge.

Being an accessible educator is about being concerned with the success and well-being of all students. Accessible educators know learners do not all start on an equal footing and may not engage in the digital environment, learning materials and resources in the same way that they do or in the same way as all other learners.

Accessible educators understand that not all disabilities are disclosed. They understand too that difficulties accessing digital content may result from situation or circumstance, or from disabilities which are not visible, or are temporary. They recognise that making learning materials and resources accessible from the start will benefit everyone who engages with them.

They therefore think about their own responsibilities in addressing accessibility. They commit to making an effort to be as accessible as they can be in their own educational contexts.
