The Academic Services Projects Team is composed of qualified project staff who provide a range of management, support and quality assurance services for projects across Academic Services.

Gemma Richardson - Academic Services Project Team Manager

Gemma joined the University as a Project Officer in November 2012, to deliver the Integrated Timetabling and Space Management Project. Prior to joining the University Gemma spent a number of years working as Programme Support Manager at Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, and later Programme Support Manager for the Offender Health and Social Care Programme in the NHS. Gemma manages the Academic Services Project Team, and oversees the portfolio of Academic Services wide projects. As well as setting priorities for the team, she works closely with Professional Services Colleagues to assess the strategic fit for forthcoming projects and new opportunities. Gemma is currently managing the Collaborative Teaching Laboratory project, and has previously worked on supporting the transition to the new library and planning the Overseas Campus in Dubai.

Jemma Mahadeo - Academic Services Project Officer

Jemma joined the University in 2010 as Personal Assistant to the Director of Academic Services (AS), supporting on a number of transformational projects such as the creation of the Birmingham Foundation Academy (now the Birmingham International Academy), the Vice-Chancellor’s Review of AS, and the AS Compact process. Jemma moved to her current role in the AS Project Team in 2014 as a Project Officer and has provided project management support for a number of high profile projects and events such as the Hub Services Integration Project (HSIP), the Birmingham Project, the Teaching and Learning Conference 2014, and more recently the Collaborative Teaching Laboratory. Jemma has a diverse range of experience having previously worked in the healthcare sector, and also has PRINCE2, Lean Six Sigma (Yellow Belt) and Change Management qualifications.

Isobel Walker - Academic Services Project Officer 

Isobel joined the University of Birmingham in January 2018 as a Project Officer, taking responsibility for the Panopto Lecture Capture and Whiteboard Capture Project. She is a PRINCE2 Practitioner, has over 6 years’ experience working in Higher Education and has recently completed the Lean Six Sigma qualification. Her experience in HE has been varied, having worked directly with students, in more finance based roles and most recently managing research and income generating projects.
