Facilities

Study spaces   

Individual study spaces can be found on all floors of the library.

Group study rooms   

The Education Library also has 2 group study rooms, G28 and G29, that can be used by students or staff. The rooms can be booked (one booking slot per group per day), for up to a two hour slot. Both rooms will accommodate up to 15 people. G29 also has a PC, monitor, and a large Smart Board that can be used for teaching practice or presentations. 

Computers

PCs for individual study and searching the library catalogue are available throughout the library. You will need your Active Directory username and password to log in. 

Wireless network   

There is wireless access throughout the library and many hotspots are available at other locations across campus. 

Photocopying and printing  

Black and white photocopying and printing are available, and operate via the charged printing system. Find out about photocopying and printing.

Collections

The Education Library collection contains books, periodicals, theses, statistics and government publications in the field of education, with particular emphasis on education for special needs.

The present collection is a development of the merger in 1967 between the previously separate libraries of the University of Birmingham Department of Education and of the Institute of Education.

Disability support

All libraries and resource centres offer the following services:

N.B. These services are available in the Education Library at all times when it is open.
