Research Reserve browsing request

Who

Academic staff and researchers may request to browse the stock in the Research Reserve (RR). Taught students can be granted access at the request of a tutor.

When

  • Monday to Friday, 10.00-16.00

How

Please complete the form below.

  • Where possible you should allow at least one working day between placing the request and wanting to visit. This will enable us to check the location of the material you wish to consult and to consider other options (e.g. scanning material or making a run of journals available in the Allport Room).
  • Please include as much detail as possible about the area of stock you wish to browse. This will help us prepare for your arrival.
  • Taught students: include details of your tutor or the member of academic staff who has recommended that you visit the RR.
  • If you have any accessibility issues, please let us know.

During your visit

  • Please report to the reception desk in the Allport Room on the lower ground floor. We will ask you to sign in with the time you arrived.
  • If it is your first visit, we will undertake basic Health and Safety training. You will not need this on subsequent visits unless it is more than six months since your last visit.
  • Basic plans of the RR will be available and, if necessary, the location of the stock you wish to browse will be marked on one of these plans. Staff can also take you in to show you the location.
  • Where possible, the mobile shelving will have been moved so that the shelves you require are accessible without you having to move them.
  • We can provide you with a small trolley for stock you may wish to borrow or consult in more detail in the Allport Room.
  • When you have finished your visit, please sign out at the reception desk.
