Library Services update: coronavirus

Last updated 12 June 2020.

As the University is now operating a restricted campus, all libraries are currently closed until further notice. If you have any queries our Just Ask! chat service is available 24/7 or you can still contact us by email on

A reminder that during this time we are being flexible regarding loans:

  • Please hold onto books until we reopen. Finalists can leave books at Jarratt Hall (under the archway), at Leo's Lounge at Pritchetts Park Village, and at the Vale Reception. Please leave in a bag with a label stating your your name and the date your returned the books.
  • We will not be fining anyone during this period.
  • We will cover the renewal of inter-library loan items from other institutions.

While the Library is closed you can still access services online, including online skills support, additional e-books, e-journals and other online resources available via our website and FindIt@Bham. One-to-one appointments for the Academic Skills Centre and Digital Skills are available remotely.

See our FAQs for students and postgraduate researchers and staff for more information.

For all information or questions relating to the wider University, there is separate guidance for staff and students provided centrally by the University of Birmingham.
