Information about the UK Scholarly Communications Licence

We are aware that some academic publishers have been in contact with their journal editors, reviewers and researchers regarding the UK Scholarly Communications Licence (UK-SCL).

The Library has been monitoring the development of the UK-SCL for some time and has been actively engaged in exploring the licence. The world of Open Access and Scholarly Communications is evolving and developing as funders, researchers, institutions and publishers look to realise the outputs from research activity looking for added value and for deeper societal impact.  UK-SCL is another potential mechanism of complying with Open Access funder requirements and ensuring research outputs are available for the public to access in a timely and sustainable manner. The Library is aware that the discussion around UK-SCL is emotive with various stakeholders offering contrasting views.  There is a UK-SCL website which provides information on what the model licence is, what issues it aims to resolve and the benefits of adoption:
