Academic English for PGRs: Writing critically

The course consists of five stand-alone workshop style sessions and is aimed at PGRs (PhD/MPhil) of any discipline who have English as an additional language. The overarching aim of the course is to help PGRs to reflect on the challenges faced by research students common to various disciplines at different stages of the thesis writing process. Sessions are led by an experienced BIA Academic English tutor who will provide tips and strategies facilitate the sharing of experience and resources among the international PGR community.
Session Outcome:
By attending the session, students will be able to
- Reflect on academic expectations regarding criticality in their own field and use critical analysis in linguistically appropriate ways
