Applications for Westmere Scholarships now open

The University Graduate School are looking for five current postgraduate researchers who can engage with postgraduate researcher communities, initiate and deliver researcher development activities, initiate and deliver researcher development activities, and advocate and promote the postgraduate research hub, Westmere. This 12-month scholarship confers a generous £5,000 bursary for the academic year (start of August 2017 – end of July 2018).

We are looking for PGRs who can think more broadly than their own discipline, show an understanding of postgraduate research issues, and display the ability to think across research subject areas. Experience of organising and promoting events would be an advantage.

We are looking to appoint one Westmere Scholar from each College, and the application deadline is Friday 28 April 2017- Deadline extended to Tuesday 2 May 2017 5pm. Interviews will be held around the start of June.

A Q&A session with the current Westmere Scholars will be held at 14:30 on Friday 7 April 2017 in the Westmere House seminar room. This will be an opportunity to hear first-hand about the responsibilities, benefits and opportunities involved in being a Westmere Scholar. There will also be an interactive workshop focusing on putting together a strong application for the Westmere Scholarships, including top tips on writing supporting statements and CVs.
