Bike Maintenance Skills 2: Puncture Repair and Adjusting Gears

Keeping your bike in good condition is an essential part of getting the best out of cycling, whether for commuting, errands or exercise. This series of courses has been designed to give staff and students at University of Birmingham essential skills and knowledge. The sessions will be led by expert bike mechanics from Gear Up, the campus bike shop. Inclusivity is the watchword: the courses are for everyone. 

The second course will cover common problems with the wheels and gears, including:

-        Removing and replace an inner tube

-        Repairing a puncture

-        Cleaning and lubricating the chain

-        Indexing gears

-        Setting up a rear derailleur

-        Identify when your bike needs an expert to make it safe to ride

 

Location: Gear Up Bike Shop Staff House

Booking Fee: £4 staff/ £2 for students Level 2 course to contribute to cost of consumables.
