Black and minority ethnic students - Be More Empowered

BME student experience at the University of Birmingham. View video transcript here.

Welcome to the website for BME (Black & Minority Ethnic) students here at the University of Birmingham. There is lots of information here that both supports and celebrates student success.

Around 28% of all students at the University of Birmingham are from a Black, Asian or minority ethnic background. This figure includes international students. Outside London this is the largest percentage population of BME students at a Russell Group university; BME students appear to be attracted to the University of Birmingham.

The University is committed to supporting student success.

This toolkit is for staff and students who want to explore a new way to support BME student success in the Schools. It offers a basic guide on what to do and explains how a pilot progressed in one School in 2013/14. In 2014/15 it is intended to expand this scheme and to get many more ambassadors working within the schools to better represent BME student experience.
