The Bioinformatics SIG aims to promote collaboration and knowledge-sharing among computational biologists across the University of Birmingham, covering the Womens and QE hospital. The group also strives to provide a forum for researchers who have an interest in applying computational approaches to their own work to meet with experienced computational biologists, thereby establishing a network through which productive scientific collaborations can be fostered and encouraged.

We meet once a month, it is very informal. It provides us with an opportunity to get together and discuss issues relating to bioinformatics and we also have presentations from invited speakers from time to time.  We also try to be social and encourage people to bring their lunch and get to know each other.
