What is Pure

Pure is an abbreviation of ‘Publication and Research’. It is a database that stores and integrates information on research activity in a structured and standardised way.

Submitting and storing research information on Pure ultimately makes it available and searchable for the wider academic community as well as the public.

Why is UoB using Pure?

  • To help you manage your research profile quickly and easily
  • To meet the requirements of external bodies such as the Research Councils and the Funding Council (eg through the REF module)
  • To publicise our research effectively to the broader academic community and the wider public (via the efficient uploading of data to our web pages)
  • To increase the efficiency of certain internal processes such as promotions
