These awards aim to acknowledge the excellent work of staff across the institution who make our research impact possible. Winners will be announced at the University Research Conference and will attend a celebratory reception and meal hosted by the VC.

Nominations were encouraged in the following areas:

Outstanding Impact in Culture

Outstanding Impact in Health

Outstanding Impact in Industry and Enterprise

Outstanding Impact in Public Policy

Outstanding Impact in Society

Outstanding Impact in Technical Innovation

Outstanding International Impact

 Any impact that has had a quantifiable effect outside of the UK.

Outstanding Emerging Impact

Research which shows exciting promise for future impact. This could be either

  • an early career researcher or group of researchers working on impact in their research or,
  • a research project where impact is earlier in the pipeline (eg, not attached to a REF case study)

Outstanding Team Support for Impact

Any Professional Services team (other than the Research Planning team) who have contributed to the development of impact in any area. This could be through funding, advice and support or delivery of activities.

Nominations to be based on research which has been conducted at Birmingham by at least one researcher still employed at Birmingham.

The impact should be quantifiable and achieved within the past 5 years, or ongoing.

Groups or individuals can be nominated, and nominations from all Colleges are encouraged in all categories.
