Public affairs

About us

We are here to help researchers engage with policymakers to influence and inform policy. We support academics across the University, of all disciplines, from PhD students to professors.

We can advise you on engaging with policymakers and preparing written briefings. We also support the University as an organisation through corporate public affairs activity.

Events

About us

The Events team delivers a strategic events portfolio as part of the University’s Communication and Reputation remit. This includes the Vice-Chancellor's Distinguished Lecture Series, the University Annual Meeting and the Baggs Memorial Happiness Lecture.

Successful events facilitate the engagement of key local, national and international stakeholders, empowering staff to engage with new audiences and cementing existing relationships.

If you are looking for support for an event that you are organising within your own department, please contact Debbie Naylor who would be pleased to work with you to help deliver a successful event, ensuring an excellent ‘First, Last and Lasting Impression’ of the University of Birmingham.

Estates communications

About us

The Estates communications team work with colleagues across the University to make sure all the right people know about major capital developments at the right time. This involves working closely with a variety of departments, including Estates and Hospitality and Accommodation Services. They also lead on community engagement, attending local meetings and responding to concerns from the University’s neighbours about organisational matters.
