About the Research Strategy and Services Division

The recent Research Excellence Framework, the national assessment to evaluate the quality and the broader impact of research in all universities in the UK, has concluded that the University of Birmingham is one of the best universities for delivering impactful research in the country and by 2030, the University of Birmingham intends to be one of the world’s top 50 leading universities across both education and research.

By uncovering opportunities within the changing research landscape and responding to the needs of our industrial, policy and creative partners, the Research Strategy and Services Division works together with our academic researchers to deliver solutions to improve people's lives, society and our planet. We also work closely across other strategic areas of the University, combining the Education, Employability and Innovation strategies together with our Research strategy, to deliver a best in class student experience, and to further strengthen the University’s role in civic and international engagement.

We are a Division of almost 160 professional  services colleagues, focused on strategic research development, business engagement for all sizes and sectors of industry, research support services and research policy, as well as research contracts, post award finance, ethics and governance.
