ESRC IAA Impact Lab: Does your research need some poetry*?
(*other creative forms are available, e.g. film, theatre, novels or short stories!)
Researchers who conduct social science research (according to the ESRC definition) are invited to submit expressions of interest for participation in a forthcoming Impact Lab facilitated by Professor Ruth Gilligan and Dr Dan Vyleta from the Department of Film and Creative Writing, and Professor Nicola Gale from the College of Social Sciences.
The Impact Lab seeks to bring together social scientists with colleagues from across the Department of Film and Creative Writing (who as well as being a team of award-winning film-makers, poets, novelists, and short story writers, conduct critical and applied research on creative arts practice, e.g. craft, translation, philosophy, performance). The aim of the Lab is to develop new interdisciplinary ways of working and new methods for developing impact in collaboration with external organisations. Groups formed at the Impact Lab will receive a small budget funded through the University of Birmingham’s ESRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) to deliver impact activity after the Lab, and will be supported to develop proposals for further interdisciplinary research or impact projects.
Impact Lab Details
The Impact Lab will take place in person on campus on Monday 4 April 2022 from 10.00 to 15.00. Lunch will be provided.
Expression of Interest (EoI) Process
Expressions of Interest should be no longer than 300 words and should be made using the Expression of Interest Form. Your EoI should include a summary of your research area, the impact ideas you hope to develop at the Impact Lab, and details of existing or proposed collaborating organisations that you intend to work with as part of your impact activity. The Lab facilitators will use the information to ‘match’ you to colleagues from Film and Creative Writing with whom you share overlapping interests.
The deadline for submitting an Expression of Interest is Friday 18 March 2022. Completed Expression of Interest Forms should be submitted to esrciaa@contacts.bham.ac.uk.
By submitting an Expression of Interest you are confirming your availability to attend the Impact Lab on Monday 4 April 2022 from 10.00 to 15.00. Applicants are expected to keep this time free until notified of the outcome of their EoI according to the timetable below.
