Imports, exports and EU rules

There are special rules for dealing with sales and purchases from outside the UK.

There are also different processes and procedures for transactions with other EU member states, and for transactions with the rest of the World.

Sales of goods to EU countries are called ‘supplies’, and to the rest of the World are called ‘exports’.

Purchases of goods from EU countries are called ‘acquisitions’, and from the rest of the World are called ‘imports’
