The University encourages you to engage in part-time study for purposes of personal development. You would usually be expected to do this outside working hours and at your own expense.
From April 2010, all employees have a legal right to request time off for training, although this request does not have to be granted.
In certain circumstances your Head of College/Budget Centre may agree that a course of study is necessary to your performance of University duties, and may at his/her discretion agree to time off or funding to support the study. The guidance and contract below enable a framework to be put in place to support this agreement.
