Essential maintenance work on University's IT infrastructure

On 18 December we will be carrying out essential maintenance work on the University's IT infrastructure as part of an agreed maintenance window

The University's IT infrastructure requires regular maintenance to ensure that our IT services and core-business applications continue to function reliably when we need them most. In order to minimise disruption to the day to day work of the University any major infrastructure maintenance carried out by IT Services will be done during an agreed maintenance window.

The date of the next maintenance window is Tuesday 18 December.

How will this impact me?

Throughout the day, technicians in IT Services will be making a number of essential infrastructure changes that will ensure the future stability of services. Whilst every effort will be made to reduce disruption, you will experience a temporary outage to a number of IT services whilst the work is being carried out - unfortunately this is unavoidable. This loss of service will likely be between 12.00pm and 1.00pm. After this time we expect services to resume normally.

What is an agreed maintenance window?

Maintenance windows are dates that have been agreed by the University and IT Services where major infrastructure work can be carried out. These dates are scheduled during the working week but are out of term time so that they avoid critical operational periods such as financial year-end, A-level results processing and clearing, Exam Board meetings, Degree Congregations and Admissions.
