My Password application launched
Take control of your University password without contacting the IT Service Desk
IT Services have launched My Password - an online application that lets you change or reset your main University password yourself, should you ever forget it, without having to contact the IT Service Desk. You can use My Password from wherever you are to log back into your University account quickly and effortlessly without having to wait in a queue at the IT Service Desk or wait for them to open.
How does it work?
My Password is really easy to use. Before using it for the first time you will need to register your basic profile by providing an alternative email address, mobile phone number, or both, just as you would for your Amazon, Google or Apple account.
Then should you ever forget your University password or get locked out of your account, you can use My Password to send you a one-time passcode to either your alternative email address or mobile allowing you to create a new University password straight away, at whatever time of day or night.
Why are we doing this?
We recognise that the high volume of calls to the IT Service Desk has a significant impact on call waiting times. Over half the calls we currently receive are requests to reset passwords. As part of our continual commitment to improve services, we want to reduce the call waiting times at the IT Service Desk by making it easier for staff and students to manage and reset their own passwords so they can log back into their University accounts as quickly and as easily as possible.
