Update on the University WiFi upgrade
We’re getting much closer to providing a world-class wireless service across the entire University. Over 84% of student learning spaces have now been upgraded with the new, industry leading Aruba hardware which equates to 73% of the University overall. In total, we are installing 2,100 Aruba wireless access points in 72 buildings across campus in what is one of the biggest programmes of work ever carried out by IT Services. Once completed, the upgrade should provide a super high-speed WiFi network which we hope will significantly enhance our learning, teaching, research and working environment at the University.
The central block of the College of Medical and Dental Sciences is the latest campus building to have the new Aruba hardware installed. The east and west wings are in the process of being surveyed and work to upgrade these areas should begin over the summer.
