Getting help

  • IT Service Desk is the first point of contact for most IT Services support queries.
  • IT Training and support  - Offering training and support for staff, researchers and students in the areas of IT Services and ITS Applications.
  • IT managers - find out who your departmental Customer IT Support manager is.

Forgotten password

  • Use Password Manager which allows you to manage your own passwords.
  • Click the link in your left hand menu in Servicenow entitled Change Password or visit https://my.password.bham.ac.uk and register with this service by completing your questions and answers profile.  
  • IT Service Desk provides details of what to do if you have forgotten your username or want to reset your password by phone.

Key staff systems

  • my.bham provides online information and resources tailored to you as a member of staff. Get your email or your library account when away from your desk. my.bham is the place to go to access exam past papers, the BIRMS student records interface, room booking or timetables. View staff benefits, job vacancies, travel links and more.
  • Password Manager - IT Services have introduced a new service called Password Manager which allows you to manage your own passwords through https://my.password.bham.ac.uk  
  • Application Catalogue - This service allows you quick and simple access to a list of common applications available for you to download and install onto your University machine without the need for an admin password, disks, or lengthy installation guides. You can access this service from https://myapplications.bham.ac.uk
  • Email - For help and advice go to IT Service Desk. Select the Knowledge Base from the left hand menu and search on email
  • Business systems/Corporate administration software such as Banner, BOXI, Coda, AltaHR and Proactis. For help and advice go to IT Service Desk. Select Requests from the left hand menu and choose the relevant ‘Admin Software’.
  • Birmingham Team Sites - The Microsoft SharePoint 2013 infrastructure and platform has been implemented by IT Services and offers Team Sites functionality. Departments, research groups, project teams and committees from across the University can use Team Sites as their platform for collaboration, sharing documents, discussion and announcements, and for project planning.
  • Website editing - Support for web editors on the Contensis Content Management System.
  • TEL Hub intranet for staff who need to add courses or information on the University's VLE, Canvas, to support students' eLearning.
  • Shared drives - For help and advice go to IT Service Desk. Select the Knowledge Base from the left hand menu and search on network drive.
  • Remote working - For help and advice go to IT Service Desk. Select the Knowledge Base from the left hand menu and search on citrix

Getting software

Booking IT/AV equipment

  • Booking IT/AV equipment - These facilities are maintained by the Learning Resources and Accommodation Team (LRAT). This is now part of Academic Services.

Wireless

  • Wireless Network service - allows staff on campus to access the internet from privately owned laptops, tablets and smartphones.
