Core Infrastructure

Core Infrastructure manages a range of key IT infrastructure systems which are an essential foundation to allow IT systems, networks and applications to run smoothly and efficiently.

It is part of Infrastructure Services in IT Services, consists of the following teams:

  • Core Infrastructure Services 
  • Data Centre Operations
  • Network Operations
  • Telecommunications 
  • Programme Management

Core Infrastructure teams look after many of the physical and virtual servers on which core University IT services and applications run. The team manages physical and wireless networks across campus and links to regional networks through which SuperJANET5 and the internet are accessed. Core Infrastructure is also responsible for the University’s telephone service, staff and student email services, and Identity and Access Management.
