HowToRDS

The following gives step by step guidance on accessing the RDS

Mounting (mapping) the RDS on Windows

    • To mount the RDS on Windows 7, follow the general instructions for mapping a network drive - for instance, if the project was registered before January 2019 then follow this:
    • Specify the name of the share as \\its-rds.bham.ac.uk\year\projectName
    • where year is the year that the project was registered and projectName is the name of the project, both of which will have been given to the project owner when the project was registered.
    • However  if your project was created from 01 January 2019, mount your home directory (RDS) as:
          \\its-rds.bham.ac.uk\rdsprojects\<letter>\<projectName>
    • Where <letter> is the first letter of your  projectName, and <projectName> is your projectName/projectCode. For example, if your projectName is romeroci-irc-chemistry , you home directory would be:
    •  /rds/rdsprojects/r/romeroci-irc-chemistry and the UNC path to access it from Windows is:
          • \\its-rds.bham.ac.uk\rdsprojects\r\romeroci-irc-chemistry
    • To mount on Windows 10
    • To mount your BlueBEAR home directory see the 'How can I mount my BlueBEAR home directory in Windows?' section below.
