MAKER v2.31.10

MAKER is a program that produces gene annotations in GFF3 format using evidence such as EST alignments and protein homology. MAKER can be used to produce gene annotations for new genomes as well as update annotations from existing genome databases.

Accessing the software

To load the module:

$ module load MAKER/2.31.10-iomkl-2018a-Perl-5.26.0

An example command to include in your job script:

mpiexec maker maker_opts.ctl maker_bopts.ctl maker_exe.ctl

where maker_opts.ctl is the options file, maker_bopts.ctl is the filtering statistics for BLAST and Exonerate and also the path information for the underlying executables in the file maker_exe.ctl.

Template files can be created by running the command:

$ maker -CTL

Note the use of the mpiexec command - since this application has been built as a parallel code this is essential, even for single-core runs.

Accessing Previous Versions

Wherever possible, previous versions of this application will be retained for continuity, especially for research projects that require a consistent version of the software throughout the project. Such versions, however, may be unsupported by IT Services or the applications vendor, and may be withdrawn at short or no notice if they can no longer run on the cluster - for example, essential operating system upgrades may be incompatible with old versions.
