blimpy contains python readers for interacting with Sigproc filterbank (.fil), HDF5 (.h5) and guppi raw (.raw) files generated by the Breakthrough Listen instruments.

The following utilities are available:

  • filutil, for plotting and reading filterbank information.
  • watutil, for opening/writing filterbank information in either .h5 or .fil format (but plotting also available).
  • rawutil, for plotting data in guppi raw files.
  • fil2h5, for converting .fil files into .h5 format.
  • h52fil, for converting .h5 files into .fil format.

Accessing the software

To load the module:

$ module load apps/blimpy/e0e3395-python-2.7.11

blimpy is a Python package. It needs to be imported into your Python script to be used:


import blimpy

Accessing Previous Versions

Wherever possible, previous versions of this application will be retained for continuity, especially for research projects that require a consistent version of the software throughout the project. Such versions, however, may be unsupported by IT Services or the applications vendor, and may be withdrawn at short or no notice if they can no longer run on the cluster - for example, essential operating system upgrades may be incompatible with old versions.

At present there are no previous versions of this application on the BlueBEAR service.
