  • Attachments usually sent via email that needs input from several sources at once and then versions collated and updated into one document
  • Receiving lots of emails relating to the same subject sent backwards and forward, sometimes with people getting missed off (reply to all)

Document sharing

  • More than one staff member needs to edit the same file or update an excel/access sheet at the same time
  • Staff need to be alerted when items are updated within a spreadsheet or when a file is added/updated/ deleted within a network drive
  • Problems sharing documents on and off campus with staff and associate members of the university

Training Materials

SharePoint Team Sites:

Training materials are updated on a regular basis and are located through the Training Materials pages (UoB login required) you can even add an alert to get notified by email any time the materials are added or updated.

Use the built in search function to locate video, hand-out guides and demonstrations or try the Online SharePoint site

Technical resources:

The TechNet Gallery is the place to go to browse the latest IT updates, download installations instructions and tools and much more.

The learning resources area allows you to access free training on Microsoft Products.

SharePoint Team Sites:

An interactive knowledge base allows you to search through FAQ's on SharePoint and Team Sites. You can also ask us a question here too

More about IT Services Training


We engage in consultations with staff, researchers and students across the University using IT Services such as SharePoint, OCS, Office 365 and Canvas to offer improvements, making Team working and communications easier. We also develop communication packages, user guides, e-learning programmes and classroom and online training courses to aid staff and students in making the transition towards new services.
