Home to students from around the world, the University of Birmingham hosts cultural events throughout the year to celebrate our students, staff and their stories.

Explore Birmingham's wealth of culture and city festivals

Strengthened by its diversity, Birmingham is a city proud to support and celebrate a variety of exciting cultural celebrations.

Whether you're an experienced culture vulture or are new to Birmingham life, there's something for you to love in the city.

Have fun at Birmingham's biannual 'Films under the Stars' festival at the Botanical Gardens (located in Edgbaston).

Take a local visit to Cadbury World to see how Cadbury chocolate started in Birmingham and enjoy some melted treats.

Experience Chinese New Year in Birmingham's Chinatown and enjoy the street food, traditional lantern making and funfair rides.

Go to one of the world's largest authentic German Christmas Markets, outside of Germany, to join in with Birmingham's Christmas festivities.

Cultural attractions on campus

Spend a beautiful afternoon at Winterbourne Gardens. Student admission is free so you can treat yourself to afternoon cake and tea and relax.

Visit Roary, the University's dinosaur, in the Lapworth Museum of Geology.

The University is home to some of Degas' and one of Monet's original pieces at the Barber Institute of Fine Art. If you love the Barber, visit the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and Ikon Gallery for brunch and art in the city.
