Stand out from the Business School crowd with our Postgraduate Future Leaders Certificate

Our Future Leaders Certificate is specifically designed to help you develop and put into practice the vital skills you need to succeed in this rapidly changing world of work.

If you demonstrate your commitment and determination by completing our Silver Award, you will be eligible to apply for our prestigious Gold Award, where you will work on a challenging group project set by a multi-national company.

Find out more from our Dean, Professor Catherine Cassell, in the video below.

Silver Award

During the Autumn term, you will have the opportunity to attend a vast range of careers lectures and fairs, workshops, employer presentations and other events. These are designed to help you gain the knowledge and skills you need to decide on a suitable career path, plan your job hunt strategy and make high quality applications that stand out from the crowd.

In order to complete the Silver Award, you need to attend a minimum of 8 sessions. These MUST include your four timetabled Career Development Programme (CDP) lectures, but the remaining four elective sessions are up to you. You will also need to submit a short reflection of your learning after each session, along with an up-to-date CV and LinkedIn profile.

If you are a campus-based Business School postgraduate on a taught programme, you will be automatically enrolled onto the Silver Award at the start of the Autumn term.  Make sure you accept your invitation to the Canvas course where you will find all the information you need about the events you can attend and what you need to do to complete the Silver Award.

If you haven’t been enrolled, please email or call 0121 415 8012 as soon as possible.

Gold Award

In order to progress to the Gold Award, you will be asked to submit a short application explaining why you would like to be selected, and you will be notified in January if you’ve been successful.

Throughout the Spring Term you will have access to individual coaching to help you better understand yourself and your strengths, and you will start getting to know the other members of your team, who you will be working with in June once you’ve completed your summer exams.

This is when the challenge really begins! You will work together on a 2-3 week interactive project set by a multi-national company and produce some real, tangible outcomes for them; an extremely valuable experience which will make a great addition to your CV.
