University of Birmingham represented at Innovation Awards

Head of Innovation and Partnerships (Estates Office) Matt Beveridge, will represent the University of Birmingham at this year’s Innovation Awards.
Matt has been shortlisted for the ‘Innovation Thought Leader of the Year – Individual’ category for his work with the University of Birmingham in fostering a culture of innovation.
With sustainability a key aspect of the University’s 2030 Strategic Framework and the University’s ambitious Top 50 vision, Matt has continually championed the innovative ways in which the University of Birmingham is transforming its campus.
Held on 8 November, the Innovation Awards, which are supported by Innovate UK amongst others, recognise, celebrate and reward the businesses, organisations and individuals who are dedicated to innovation. Through its commitment to access to education, sustainability, collaboration and research, the University of Birmingham exemplifies this and stands out as an ambitious leader of innovation.
Matt said, “Being shortlisted for this prestigious award is a great personal honour and an endorsement of the pivotal role universities play in fostering innovation.”
Earlier this year, Matt attended UK Construction Week, where he was invited to join an innovation panel. He discussed the University’s approach to transforming the estate, by harnessing novel solutions and technologies.
This work is aligned to the University’s Net Zero Carbon and sustainability ambitions, while enhancing research and education. This provided an insight into the pivotal role that universities play in our society and how their campuses offer a unique opportunity to act as a testbed for innovation, research and development.
