Working from home

From September we are adopting a blended approach to working which means that the majority of staff will be working on campus for at least some of their time and some staff will be back on campus fully.

For those staff who continue to spend some of their time working from home there are a wide range of resources from HR, POD, IT and Workplace Wellbeing to support this and enable you to work effectively whether at home or on campus.

Stay in touch online

Several online groups were born out of lockdown, which enabled us to remain in touch and also connect with our vibrant staff community. Here is some information on how you can keep in touch via Facebook and virtually explore campus, Birmingham, and beyond.

We are UoB Facebook group

With over 2,300 members the We Are UoB Facebook group has become a real community space for colleagues to come together whilst we are working through restricted campus operations. The group offers staff the opportunity to keep in touch with colleagues as well as the chance to make new connections.

The group has received over 1,000 posts and 8,000 comments, covering a range of topics from wellbeing advice to gardening tips, working from home guidance to cooking recipes, exercise tutorials to home-schooling advice. We have even had a few live musical performances in the UoB Live Lounge.

The group has been really well received from colleagues across campus and has become a vibrant community offering support and friendship to one another. For those who are on Facebook and would like to join the group, visit: We Are UoB Facebook.

Virtual Sport & Fitness

Exercising can be hard with very limited access to the outdoors. For those looking for some inspiration to keep up your fitness and wellbeing, why not join the online Sport & Fitness community in the Virtual Sport & Fitness Club. The Facebook group has nearly 2,000 members and is another vibrant UoB online community that you can access while we are in restricted campus operations. Simply request to join and you can have access to live workouts, videos, blog posts, nutrition tips and recipes and more.

Explore Campus and Birmingham

During the current UK lockdown, we're unable to enjoy all that Birmingham and the surrounding areas have to offer, however our Student Services team has pulled together a list of online events and cultural activities you can get involved in.
