How do I book a place on a course?

To book a place or register your interest in any of our courses, please follow the details outlined in our course brochure or use our course A-Z drop down menu on the staff development intranet home page.

 

Will I receive confirmation of my booking?

Once you have booked onto one of our courses you will automatically receive an email confirmation. You will receive joining instructions two weeks prior to your course. It is important to read the joining instructions as they will inform you of the location and time of your course, as well as any pre-course work required.

 

What do I need to bring with me?

Pen and paper or electronic device for making notes are always useful; however handouts are available for all our courses.  Courses requiring pre-course work will be detailed in your joining instructions.

 

I can’t make a course that I have booked onto. What should I do?

We do understand that things happen, and you may have to give up your place on an course, but we would ask you to give us as much notice as possible. Many of our courses run at capacity and we would like to offer your place to someone else if you cannot make it

 

How do I book onto the recruitment & selection Workshop?

Recruitment and selection workshops are undertaken monthly, dates and locations can be found by clicking here.

This is an open workshop, therefore you do not need to book, all we ask is that you arrive promptly and bring your staff ID card with you so that we can register you and record your attendance on the day.

A training need has been identified in my performance development review, but I can’t find a course to match – what should I do?

Will refreshments be available?

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available; water is available in the training room on all courses. 

 

What lunch facilities are available at POD House?

You are welcome to stay within POD House for your lunch. Located on the ground floor we do have a refreshment room and also the use of a small kitchen, which contains a refrigerator and microwave. We do also have a selection of food outlets located within a short walking distance: Gisbert Kapp (G8), Allan Walters (R29) and Staff House(R24).

 

I need a certificate following a course I have attended; will this be sent to me?

We do not issue Certificates following your attendance of our open courses, your attendance and completion of the course is recorded on your Altahr record. However, we can provide certificates on request, please contact pod@contacts.bham.ac.uk.

 

Are there parking facilities at POD House?

There are limited parking spaces available at the front of the building, these may only be used if you hold a valid purple parking permit .There is also one disabled parking space. The nearest car parks are: North East Car Park; North Gate Car Park and Pritchatts Road Car Park. These are all located on Pritchatts Road and they are all within a 5 minute walking distance.
