Emerging technologies competition news

We're looking for innovative uses of emerging technologies, such as drones, 3D printing, mobile applications, virtual reality and robots. Enter the Emerging Technology Competition to be in with a chance of winning a paid internships and/or tailored support and guidance to further develop your idea.

This year we have suggested a few areas you could focus your ideas on, however, you can choose something else if you prefer.

  • Teaching and learning.
  • Life at the University.
  • Health and wellbeing.
  • Energy and the environment.

The competition is open to all current undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University. You can enter as an individual, or as a team of no more than 3 people. 

The competition is accredited by the Personal Skills Awards (PSA), the undergraduate employability programme at the University.

Ideation workshop

Attend our Ideation workshop to explore different ideas and meet potential collaboration partners. The workshop will take place on 22 November, 2.00pm to 4.00pm at the IT Innovation Centre in the European Research Institute building (G3 on the campus map). Find out more and book your place.

How to apply

To enter, register your idea before Friday 8 December 2017 and submit a design or working prototype, to show how the technology will work, before Friday 2 March 2018.
