Competition: design artwork for the Collaborative Teaching Laboratory

CTL

The Collaborative Teaching Laboratory (CTL) is to become a hub for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), with multifunctional labs suitable for subject-specific and cross-disciplinary teaching and team working.

The University is holding a competition to design the artwork that is featured on the glass panels surrounding the CTL's e-Lab and Dry Lab. Examples of the types of frosting can be seen below.

All entries should be guided by the theme 'Breaking Down Boundaries in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM)'. This could include breaking down boundaries between STEM disciplines or the boundaries restricting inclusivity in STEM. However, individual interpretations of the theme are encouraged.

The prize

Seven competition winners will receive a £50 gift voucher and will have the chance to work with the University’s Creative Media team to transform their design into a glass window ‘manifestation’.

Who can enter

The competition is open to all University of Birmingham students, alumni and University School students.

How to enter

The competition is now open and closes at 6pm on Monday 15 January. All entries should be submitted electronically in an A4 PDF document. For further information, and to submit your design, please contact Mairead Mallon: m.mallon@bham.ac.uk.
