Community Wardens

Community Wardens have recently completed patrols in Selly Oak, providing information and guidance to students around safety. They have also taken part in joint evening patrols with the Police to talk to students about insecure properties (e.g. when students leave their doors and windows unlocked) and visiting local halls of residence with Security. If you see them out on patrol please say hello and get advice.

The team of wardens also visit properties to welcome students at the start of term providing information covering safety, waste, housing and cohesion issues. They’ve visited 600 houses so far this term but have another 1,000 to cover in the Bournbrook area so they may be stopping by your home soon!

The Community Wardens are a team of six students based at the Guild of Students, who work for a safer, cleaner, greener community for all. They work in partnership with the University of Birmingham and local organisations (like the Council, Police and Fire Service) to help make the local area a fantastic community to live in.

They’re mainly out and about in the Bournbrook area of Selly Oak – and across the wider area where University of Birmingham students live in wide numbers. The wardens can help you make your community a better place to live by providing you with information, advice and contacts to help you resolve any issues or problems you may be facing.

Say hello when you see the wardens in Selly, visit them at Guild Advice or contact the team at community@guild.bham.ac.uk.
