Statement for student staff on issues with Payroll and Worklink

The University would like to apologise to any students affected by the issues regarding incorrect salary payments.  Simply put, we need to be able to pay people accurately and on time and we are committed to ensuring that these issues are resolved quickly and do not recur.

How do I raise a query about my pay?

If students believe their pay is incorrect and haven’t yet raised this with the University, they should contact Worklink (worklink@contacts.bham.ac.uk  +44 (0)121 414 5000) to ensure that the issue is picked up and addressed as quickly as possible.

Where we are aware of individual student affected, we are proactively working to resolve the issue quickly, with fast tracked payments available where necessary.

What caused the issue?

Our payroll and Worklink teams have been working to respond to a range of issues including processing and input errors and issues like missing or out-of-date bank details.   While there is no indication that there are any significant system issues relating to our new system, we will continue to review each case as it arises.

How do I access support for financial hardship?

Any students facing financial hardship as a result of this issue can contact the student support team to find out more about hardship funds and other allowances that may be available by calling 0121 414 7391 (09:00 until 17:00 Monday – Friday), emailing Fga@contacts.bham.ac.uk or by visiting https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/undergraduate/support/moneyadvice/support.aspx
