How do I update my address details?
Students returning to the University to continue their studies must enter both a home and term-time address to be able to register. A term-time address is where you will be living during the academic year whilst you are studying on your course. If your term-time and home addresses are the same, you will still need to enter this information in both sections.
How to update a current address
- You will select the address you wish to update on the 'Update Addresses and Telephone Numbers - Select Address' page in Online Registration.
- The address that the University currently holds for you will be shown on this page - make sure that these are in date and accurate.
- You will notice that the 'Current' label is a link to the 'Update / Insert' address page. When you click on the link it will open the 'Update / Insert' address page and display the details held for that particular address. Here you can enter a Valid From date that is higher than the current Valid From date and over-type the details on this page.
- You must check the Valid Until date for term-time and temporary addresses is entered and that this reflects when you will leave that address.
- When entering a term-time address it is important that you select the 'Accommodation Type' - failure to do this may result in your changes not being saved when you click Submit - this will mean you will need to enter the details again. The Accommodation Type values you can choose are as follows:
- University owned property (if your term-time address is University provided accommodation)
- Private-sector halls (if your term-time address is private student accommodation)
- Other rented accommodation (if your term-time address is a privately rented property that isn't rented on a permanent basis)
- Parental / guardian home (if your term-time address is the same as your home address and your parents / guardians own or rent the property)
- Own permanent residence (if your term-time address is the same as your home address and you permanently own or rent the property)
- Not known (if you are unsure as to which of the other options apply)
- Other (if none of the other options apply)
Please be advised that if you require a visa to study in the UK that you must provide a UK address as your term-time address (unless studying overseas as a requirement of your programme) and UK contact telephone number or one that can be called from the UK throughout your full period of study.
