What will my disability advisor do?
Your disability advisor is a named person who can help you liaise with your academic and other university departments, such as the library, housing and estates and also external organisations. They can also assist you with Disabled Students Allowances’ funding applications and arranging your support.
They can discuss with you the pros and cons of particular types of support and other reasonable adjustments that the University can provide and ensure that these adjustments are communicated to the other parts of the University that need to know this information.
Your advisor will write a Reasonable Adjustment Plan (RAP), with your input, which identifies your individual support requirements and recommends adjustments that might need to be made to ensure you can fulfil your academic potential.
You can also discuss any concerns you have about disclosing your disability.
If you have any difficulties while you are studying, your Disability Advisor can help talk through your options with you, and also signpost you to other University services.
