What is Counselling and is it right for me?

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Service provides short term (initial assessment followed by up to five sessions) of counselling for all registered students in order to help you engage more effectively in your academic and social environment and to be sufficiently free from psychological distress to achieve your potential.

Counselling can help you to understand aspects of your life which have been causing you problems. The understanding that you gain may lead to you making changes in your life; changes which may seem small but which can have a significant effect on your wellbeing. For some, counselling may also provide a form of support during a difficult period, or following a traumatic event or experience.

We provide counselling both in person and online. Online counselling can be helpful if visiting us is inconvenient or if you prefer to communicate with a counsellor via chat.
