How do I access my University email account?

There are two ways to access your University email account:

  1. Through the www.my.bham.ac.uk student portal
  2. Directly by going to outlook.bham.ac.uk (undergraduate and postgraduate taught students) or mail.bham.ac.uk (postgraduate research students)

Accessing your email through my.bham

(All students)

  1. In your web browser enter www.my.bham.ac.uk and press enter.
  2. In the login field enter your University (Active Directory) username and password - these can be found on your Online Registration email.
  3. You will be redirected to the my.bham home page. Here you will find a suite of online services for students at the University of Birmingham including email, Canvas and online library services.
  4. Click on the Office 365 link to open your mail folder.

Accessing your email through outlook.bham.ac.uk

(Undergraduate and postgraduate taught students)

  1. In your web browser enter outlook.bham.ac.uk and press enter.
  2. Enter your University (Active Directory) username and password - these can be found on your Online Registration email - and click login.
  3. Your University email folder will now open.

Accessing your email through mail.bham.ac.uk

(Postgraduate research students only)

  1. In your web browser enter mail.bham.ac.uk and press enter.
  2. Enter your University (Active Directory) username and password - these can be found on your Online Registration email - and click login.
  3. Your University email folder will now open.
