What is a BRP card?

A Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) is a document issued by the Home Office which shows evidence of the holder's immigration permissions. A BRP card is a similar size to a credit card and holds biographic details (name, date and place of birth) and biometric information (facial image and fingerprints).

If you apply for a visa from outside of the UK (known as 'entry clearance') to come to the UK for 6 months or more you will be required to collect a BRP on arrival.

When your visa is granted you will be issued with a vignette (sticker in your passport) which is valid for 30 days. This visa allows you to enter the UK and is valid for 30 days.

You will need to collect your BRP within 10 days of your arrival to the UK.

If you apply to extend your visa within the UK your BRP will be delivered to you by courier.
