What do I do if I experience a hate crime?

There have been reports of an increase in hate crimes across the UK following the outcome of the referendum. The University places huge importance on being a safe and welcoming place for students and staff of all backgrounds to study and work. We have a zero-tolerance approach to hate crime and harassment. Any member of the University engaging in harassment of others will face disciplinary action up to and including dismissal from the University. If a criminal offence has been committed, this may also result in a criminal conviction.

If you are subjected to or witness a hate crime on campus please contact Security immediately on 0121 414 4444 (44444 internally) for on-campus support. This service is available 24 hours a day.

If you require immediate police or ambulance services, contact 999 and then contact Security on 0121 414 4444 (44444 internally) so they can direct the emergency services to your location. Outside of campus, please contact the emergency services on 999.
