How and when will my loan be paid?

You will be informed of the disbursement dates for your aid once your loan has been originated via a formal notification letter sent to you from your designated assessor within Funding, Graduation & Awards. Each loan disbursement is subject to you maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and there are no changes in your status.

Typically, student’s loans are split into three disbursements paid at the beginning of each term. However, this may differ if you apply for your loan after the start of term or if you are a January starter as opposed to a September starter.

Each disbursement of your loan will be firstly used to credit your tuition fee and accommodation fee charge (if living in University-owned halls of residence); this will be credited proportionately and 35% will be deducted from your first loan disbursement, 35% from the second loan disbursement and 30% from the third loan disbursement.

On each disbursement date, you are then paid the remaining loan amount after tuition and accommodation fees (if applicable) are deducted.
